Coronation 1936

Coronation, a silverplate pattern, was introduced by Community (now Oneida) in 1936 to commemorate the crowning of Edward VIII of England. Due to his abdication, this event never took place. Coronation has been a highly successful pattern in the U.S. A number of hollow ware pieces were produced in the early years and are rather scarce today.

Navarre pattern glassware by Fostoria, also introduced in 1936, was designed to coordinate with Coronation. The motif on the handle of the flatware matches the central motif on the glass stemware.
